Your vehicle’s HVAC or commonly referred to as your aircon system is a critical component of your vehicle & could have detrimental effects on your health. The airconditioning services associated with the air conditioning system are responsible for regulating the cabin temperature & the cleanliness of the air quality you breathe. Regular airconditioning services ensure that your vehicle runs efficiently and maintains a comfortable environment.
The process of cooling your cabin inside
The air conditioning system in a car works by manipulating the refrigerant inside the AC or HVAC system between a liquid and a gaseous state. As the refrigerant is transported in the system from the evapourator & condenser it changes its states, it absorbs heat and humidity from the vehicle and allows the system to give off cool, dry air.
Regular airconditioning services are essential for maintaining optimal performance and efficiency of your vehicle’s HVAC system.
Utilizing professional airconditioning services can extend the lifespan of your HVAC system and prevent costly repairs in the future.
To change the refrigerant between a liquid and a gaseous state, the air conditioning system works to control pressure and temperature inside the HVAC system
Understanding the importance of regular airconditioning services can help you avoid discomfort during extreme weather conditions.
Component of the AC or HVAC System
1 – Aircon Condenser
This is the heat exchange radiator located in the front of the vehicle and is usually infront of the vehicle main Coolant Radiator. It is responsible for changing the temperature of the refrigerant inside the pipes
2 – Aircon Compressor
This the the pump that deleivers of transports the refrigerant through the system and aloows the cooling or heating of the inside cabin
3 – Receiver Dryer
This component is responsible for removal of moisture content in the HVAC system and filteration of dirty molecules
4 – Aircon Evapourator
Inside heat exchange device or radiator that delivers the changes state of refrigerant to the cabin
5 – Cabin or Pollen Filter
This filter restrict external elements [Dust, Pollen, Bacteria and other breathable elements] from entering the cabin of inside of vehicle.
Common Failures
Because your vehicle’s airconditioning services operate under pressure, they need to remain completely sealed from the surrounding environment. Anything that allows refrigerant to escape or contaminants to enter can cause a failure of the systems and damage its components. Regular airconditioning services can help identify potential issues before they become major problems.
Regular maintenance from experienced technicians can ensure your airconditioning services are performed correctly.
In conclusion, investing in airconditioning services is essential for the comfort of you and your passengers.
If a leak occurs in any component, simply recharging the system with new refrigerant will not solve the problem but will be at best a temporary fix. You must Identify the leak in the system, replace the faulty component and then service & recharge the system.
Not only will a system leak stop the AC system from cooling But the leak could allow the vitla compressor oil to escape which can cause damage to the compressor internal components,
The compressor can overheat and damage itself by trying to run with too little refrigerant in the system. Compressors generally are not serviceable and are an expensive item to replace if they become damaged. The iron filings from the compressor could also clog the airconditioning system
AC condenser needs a steady flow of air through its fins. Road debris and dirt may reduce airflow, causing system malfunction. The condenser is mounted directly behind the vehicle grill, leaving it somewhat exposed and at risk for partial blockage.
Process of Service & Regas of Vehicle Aircon
Step 1
Check the HP & LP ports and caps for leaks, defective valves & pressure
Step 2
Connect the Aircon service machine HP port & LP port to the vehicle
Step 3
Choose the correct vehicle data on the Bosch Aircon regas machine and enter the quantites as per recommendation
Steps 4
Recover any Aircon gas / refrigerant & Oil from the HVAC system
Step 5
Vacuum the aircon system for a minimum of 30 mins to remove all refrigerant and dirt from the system
Step 6
Ensure the vacuum pressure is maintained after completion
Step 7
Drain all compressor oil & UV dye for the aircon system
Step 8
Refill the correct quantity of Compressor oil & UV Dye
Step 9
Recharge the system with the correct quantity of gas or refrigerant
Step 10
